Jason R. Buratti has joined the Zumba Fitness company as its general counsel and vice president of business affairs. Buratti assumes the role of general counsel to support the company’s continued international growth and to develop its extensive intellectual property portfolio and global business relationships. He was with the firm of Christopher & Weisberg, P.A., where he worked for more than 14 years practicing intellectual property law and serving as outside counsel to Zumba Fitness.

Maria Carpio named vice president at Great Florida Bank
Maria D. Carpio has joined Great Florida Bank as vice president, senior relationship manager. She will be responsible for business development and relationship building in the Miami-Dade market, working from the bank’s Blue Lagoon Solution Center. She was a vice president in private banking at BankUnited where she began working in 1991.

GrayRobinson law firm adds three new attorneys
GrayRobinson P.A. has expanded its trial practice with the additions of Neil P. Linden, Philippe W. Devé and David B. Levin. All three attorneys come from the office of Yoss, LLP.
Linden joins the firm as an executive shareholder. He has tried cases involving real estate and title insurance litigation, and other complex commercial, class actions, construction and banking litigation, general contract disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes and lender liability defense.
Devé joins the firm as a shareholder. His practice areas include commercial and title insurance litigation, including coverage disputes, claims defense and agency defalcations, mortgage foreclosures, construction and banking litigation.
Levin joins the firm as an associate, focusing his practice on real estate, land title litigation, and title claim administration.

Tom West named vice president of information technology at Nova Southeastern University
Tom West has been named vice president of information technology and chief information officer at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). In his role, he will provide the university community with the technological resources to support teaching, learning and research at NSU's main campus in Davie-Fort Lauderdale, and at off campus Student Education Centers in Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Miami, Miramar, Orlando, Palm Beach, Tampa and The Bahamas. Before joining NSU, he was chief technology officer at Health Choice Network in Miami. Before that, he was senior vice presiding of global information technology and engineering for Pfizer Pharmaceutical and vice president of global information technology for Citigroup, Latin America.

Marilyn Navarro promoted at Mega TV
Spanish Broadcasting System Inc., (SBS) has promoted Marilyn Navarro to regional sales manager for Mega TV, SBS’s television property. In her new role, she will be responsible for regional “spot” sales for Mega TV in Miami and other markets, while coordinating and overseeing regional sales representatives. She was an account executive for Mega TV. Before joining the company, she was an account executive for WFOR CBS 4 in Miami from 1987-2005.

Ronald Kriss named managing partner at Strook & Strook & Lavan in Miami
Ronald A. Kriss has been named managing partner of the Miami office of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, a national firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami. Manny Fernandez, who has served as the managing partner of the firm's Miami office for the last seven years, will continue to chair Stroock’s real estate practice. Kriss joined Stroock in Nov. 2010 from Akerman Senterfitt. He is chairman of the firm’s national distressed real estate practice, which focuses primarily on the representation of lenders in connection with the enforcement and work-out of defaulted commercial real estate loans, and the representation of investors in connection with the purchase of such loans.

Jorge Azcuy promoted to director of technical services at Compuquip Technologies
Jorge Azcuy has been promoted to director of technical services at Compuquip Technologies Inc., one of the largest IT services providers in South Florida. He was technical services manager. He will be responsible for managing the technical direction of Compuquip’s infrastructure services division. Before joining Compuquip, Azcuy was an enterprise systems integration manager with a Miami-based IT consulting and staffing services firm.

Jay Reinberg joins Mount Sinai Medical offices
Dr. Jay Reinberg has joined Mount Sinai Medical Center as the center's newest internal medicine physician. He will see patients at the center's main campus in Miami Beach and at the Mount Sinai physician offices in Aventura. He was with South Florida Multispecialty Associates, whose offices also are at both locations.

Arturo Hoyo named chairman of Florida Association of Insurance Agents
Arturo F. Hoyo has been named new chairman of the Florida Association of Insurance Agents for 2010-2011. He is president of Coastal Insurance Group, Inc. in Miami Springs, which he co-founded in 1979. The insurance group serves Miami, Miami Springs, Key Biscayne, Doral, Coral Gables, and Hialeah, selling personal and commercial insurance.
