Mayur Patel promoted to vice president of strategy and assessment at John S. James L. Knight Foundation
Mayur Patel has been promoted to vice president of strategy and assessment at the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. He joined the foundation in 2009 and was promoted to director of strategic assessment and assistant to the president in 2010. Before that, he was a project associate with the Global Economic Governance Programme at the University of Oxford, involved in research on international economic affairs, and a fellow with the World Trade Organization in Geneva. Patel will report directly to Alberto Ibargüen, Knight Foundation president and CEO.
Jeanna Steele has been named vice president of operations at Landry & Kling, a company specializing in cruise events and meetings at sea. She will oversee all aspects of the company's cruise program operations by providing leadership to the operations staff, while managing client and vendor relationships. Before joining the company full time, she helped plan and operate 20 events on cruise ships, including 14 full-ship charters. During her years as an independent meeting planner, Landry & Kling engaged her as operations team leader overseeing three dockside ship charters for the 2009 Summit of the Americas and Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings in Trinidad and Tobago.
Moira Oliver has been named vice president of human resources at The Continental Group, one of the largest property management companies in Florida. She will be responsible for all aspects of human resources, including talent acquisition and development, compensation, benefits, compliance, and HR Information Systems. She will report directly to chief financial officer Dan Cammarata and also will serve as a member of the executive committee. Oliver was director of human resources at SEACOR Holdings Inc., a multinational company.
Brett M. Halsey has been promoted to partner at the Miami law firm of Tew Cardenas. He focuses his practice on commercial litigation matters and appeals. He has extensive experience representing individuals and organizations in construction disputes, professional malpractice claims, securities litigation, international asset recovery, and land use and local government law matters. He joined the firm in 2003 as an associate.
Ricardo H. Puente has been named a partner at Coral Gables-based law firm Concepción Martinez & Bellido. He will focus his practice on civil trials, commercial litigation, and arbitration, with an emphasis in matters involving financial transaction litigation, securities broker/dealer litigation, international litigation, fraud and fiduciary duty litigation, negligence, and intentional torts. Puente also serves as chairman for a judicial grievance committee of the Florida Bar that is in charge of investigating attorney misconduct.

Robert Festinger has been named vice president of sales and marketing at Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort in Sunny Isles Beach. He will be responsible for the branding, marketing, selling and management of Newport's hospitality properties including the hotel, vacation ownership program, Kitchen 305 restaurant and the Seven Seas Aveda Spa and Salon. He was the Newport's director of sales and marketing where he managed group and catering sales.
John F. Bennett has been named vice president of business development at Miami-based Coastal Construction Group. In his new role, he will further expand Coastal’s business development opportunities in the commercial, retail, hospitality, multi-family, educational, and government-related facilities within key U.S. and Caribbean markets. Before joining Coastal, he was vice president of business development for Baker Concrete Construction; general manager, sales-South Florida for Rinker for 12 years; and president for the Executives Association of South Florida, the Construction Executives Association of South Florida, and the Construction Association of South Florida.
