Gloriane Gonzalez Gloriane Gonzalez has been promoted to marketing director at Fairchild Partners, Inc., a Coral Gables-based commercial real estate services firm. She joined the firm in 2007. She earned a marketing degree from Nova Southeastern University.

 

 

 


Jonathan Lay Jonathan Lay has joined Fairchild Partners, Inc. as an associate in the firm's brokerage team, specializing in office and industrial transactions. Before joining the firm, he worked as an appraiser.

Surgeons Juan-Carlos Verdeja, Jorge Rabaza, and Anthony Gonzalez join Baptist Health Medical Group

Baptist Health Medical Group has expanded to more than 80 physicians in multiple specialties with the addition of surgeons Juan-Carlos Verdeja, Jorge Rabaza, and Anthony Gonzalez. They are specialists in minimally invasive surgeries and have completed nearly 2,000 gastric bypass surgeries between them. They also have performed minimally invasive cholecystectomy, hernia repair, appendectomy, intestinal surgery and other procedures. All three physicians are graduates of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed internships and residencies at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Juan Carlos Verdeja Dr. Verdeja is the founding president of the medical staff at West Kendall Baptist Hospital. He is director of minimally invasive surgery at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim School of Medicine and also is a clinical associate professor in the department of surgery. Additionallly, he is chief of surgery at South Miami Hospital and a clinical assistant professor in the department of surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He also has co-authored a scientific paper on laparoscopic colon surgery and is recognized as a pioneer in advanced laparscopic surgical techniques.

 

Jorge Rabaza Dr. Rabaza, a former president of the medical staff at South Miami Hospital, was one of the first bariatric surgeons in Miami-Dade County. He specializes in hernia surgery. He is a voluntary assistant professor of surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

 

 

 

Anthony Gonzalez Dr. Gonzalez is chief of surgery at Baptist Hospital and medical director of bariatric services for Baptist Health. He performed the first robotic single incision lap-band placement in the United States. He is a voluntary assistant professor of surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and clinical assistant professor of surgery at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim School of Medicine.

He concentrates his practice in litigations related to insolvency and complex financial frauds.  Before joining the firm, he was with Diamond McCarthy, LLP in New York.

David S. Weinstein named a partner at Clarke Silverglate

David Weinstein David S. Weinstein has joined the law firm of Clarke Silverglate, P.A. as a partner. He will head the firm’s white collar criminal defense practice. His areas of expertise include corporate compliance laws, grand jury representation, asset forfeiture and recovery and money laundering. He has more than 20 years experience in criminal law, first as a state prosecutor, then as a federal prosecutor, and most recently in private practice. Before joining Clarke Silverglate, he was a partner at WNF Law. From 1998 through 2009, he was an assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, where he worked in the Appellate, Narcotics, Major Crimes and Public Integrity/National Security Civil Rights Sections. When he left government practice, he was serving as chief of the Public Integrity/National Security Civil Rights Section. Before that, he was was an assistant State Attorney for Miami-Dade County.

Lynne Wines named president of First Southern Bank in Boca Raton

Lynne Wines Lynne Wines has been named president of First Southern Bank in Boca Raton. She will be responsible for building the bank’s sales and customer service and extending the community bank's reach to more Florida markets. She was president and chief operating officer of CNL Bank in Orlando, where she served as CEO of the bank’s south Florida division.

Maria Bueno, Ramon Plasencia named assistant vice presidents at TotalBank

TotalBank has hired Maria C. Bueno and Ramon Plasencia as assistant vice presidents/loan originators.

Maria Bueno Bueno will oversee the bank’s residential mortgage lending division at the Brickell Banking Center while also servicing the Downtown and the Palmetto Bay banking centers. She has more than 20 years of residential loan experience, along with private banking originations specializing in structuring high end portfolio loans with an emphasis on foreign national lending.

 

 

Ramon Plasencia Plasencia has more than eight years of loan originating experience. He will work in the residential mortgage lending division servicing the Coral Way banking center in addition to the Bird Road, Medley and Quail Roost banking centers. He was mortgage consultant at TD Bank and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.

Jorge Benitez promoted to managing director and chief executive at Accenture

Jorge Benitez Jorge Benitez has been promoted to managing director for North America and chief executive for the United States for Accenture, a global managing consulting and technology services firm. He is based in the Miami office and will have primary responsibility for Accenture’s business and operations in North America, including developing and executing business strategy and ensuring the company’s growth in this region. He will assume the new role Sept. 1. He has worked for the company 30 years and was chief operating officer of Accenture’s products operating group and location managing director of Accenture’s Miami office before the promotion. He also has led the company’s minority mentoring program and was a member of the Accenture Foundation Board.

Charles Garcia Charles P. Garcia has been named chairman of the Miami group of TIGER 21, a peer-to-peer learning group for high net worth investors. He is chief executive officer of Garcia Trujillo, a Miami-based consulting, merchant banking and venture capital firm focusing on the global Hispanic market. He serves on the board of directors of Winn Dixie Stores, Inc. and an advisory board of Aetna. He has received two presidential appointments: to serve on a national education commission, and as chairman of the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors. He also has served as an advisor on Florida’s Board of Education; has worked in four presidential administrations; has advised a Cabinet secretary, a governor, and a former NATO Supreme Allied Commander on diverse issues ranging from education, drug interdiction, Latin American politics and counter insurgency training.
