Cheryl Jacobs, a Miami corporate communications official with more than 20 years in architecture who also has had leadership roles in association and nonprofit organizations, has been named executive director of the American Institute of Architects Miami Chapter. She will be responsible for executing the organization's strategic plan, developing the annual budget and helping the board identify key emerging issues and establish future direction. She has been the marketing and community relations director for Zyscovich Architects in Miami for the past 19 years, with responsibility for client and government relations, and business development. She was director of community relations from 2007 to 2011, director of marketing from 1992 to 2007 and joined the firm as an associate in 2003. She is currently vice chair of programs for the Urban Land Institute Southeast Florida/Caribbean District Council Advisory Committee and a member of the Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association Sustainability Council. She chaired several committees for the Greater Miami Chamber, including the Workforce Housing Committee and the Go Green Task Force.
