Cynthia Borders-Byrd has been named chair of the Florida State Board of Accountancy (BOA), the organization responsible for the regulation of certified public accountants (CPAs) and accounting firms in the state. She was named to the BOA in 2008 and was reappointed for a second term by Gov. Rick Scott. She was vice-chair of the board, member of the Probable Cause Panel and chair of the Rules Committee. She manages and operates C. Borders-Byrd, CPA LLC, an accounting and consulting firm with offices in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton. Before starting her own accounting firm, she worked with the State of Florida's Office of the Auditor General; Broward County; Arthur Andersen; and Ernst & Young.
