Sonya Cañas has been named vice president and commercial banking officer at Mercantil Commercebank. Based at the bank's Coral Gables headquarters, she will be responsible for providing loans and bank products to companies in the Miami-Dade market. Before joining Mercantil Commercebank, she was a vice president at Bank United in Hialeah for two years, where she was responsible for expanding relationships with businesses in Miami-Dade.
