Ellen Leibovitch joins Assouline & Berlowe as partner

Two new shareholders at Akerman Senterfit

Ora Lea Strickland named to Miami Jewish Health Systems board of directors
Ora Lea Strickland has been named to the board of directors of Miami Jewish Health Systems, a healthcare provider. She is dean and professor of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Florida International University. Before joining FIU, she was a professor and the first person to hold an endowed professorship in the Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She also was a professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and has taught at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Greensboro.
Tom Riecke named vice president of sales for the Americas at DBK Concepts
Tom Riecke has been named vice president of sales for the Americas with DBK Concepts in Miami. He will be responsible for managing DBK’s sales force and expanding the products and services the company offers. Before joining DBK, he spent 26 years with LXE, serving as vice president of sales in the Americas. DBK offers new and refurbished data-collection mobile computers, custom software development, maintenance and repair services, and professional/implementation services.
Mia Stierheim named a senior vice president at Stierheim and Wesson Retail Realty
Mia Stierheim will serve as senior vice president of retail services at Stierheim and Wesson Retail Realty, Inc., a new commercial real estate firm. She will manage the firm’s Miami office. Earl Wesson will serve as president of the firm and will manage the second office in Indian Rocks Beach. The firm specializes in repositioning of retail/mixed-use projects and sophisticated consulting. Before forming the new firm, Stierheim was the director of retail services at Colliers International South Florida, where she focused on expanding the company’s retail presence. Merrett R. Stierheim, a long-term public servant in Miami-Dade County and father of Mia Stierheim, will serve as senior advisor to the firm. Since Aug. 2011, he has been serving as president and CEO of the Collins Center for Public Policy and will continue in that capacity until a permanent CEO is hired.
Arden Karson named a senior vice president at Related Group
Arden Karson has been named senior vice president of the Related Group’s acquisitions, distressed debt and strategic opportunities division. She and her team will continue pursuing opportunistic acquisitions, including mixed-use assets, hotels, shopping centers, land and multifamily/broken condo deals throughout the Southeast and in major metropolitan markets throughout the country. She has more than 20 years of real estate experience with an emphasis on acquisitions, asset management, development, property management, sales, leasing and finance. Before joining Related, she worked with several real estate firms, including Lennar/LNR, Advenir, CREC and Barrow Street Capital. She also spent part of her career as a real estate lender with Bank of America, and as a consultant with Price Waterhouse/Coopers.
