Four attorneys promoted to shareholders at Fowler White Burnett, P.A.

Avery A. Dial, Peter J. Melaragno, Richard P. Morris, and Yelena Shneyderman have been promoted to shareholders at the law firm of Fowler White Burnett, P.A.

Dial is a member of the firm’s insurance group. He focuses his practice on products liability, professional and medical liability, general liability, bad faith and transportation issues. He joined the firm in 2009 and works out of the Fort Lauderdale office.

 

 

 

 

Melaragno focuses his practice on toxic tort litigation. He represents manufacturers, distributors, insurers and retailers in the defense of claims that arise from alleged exposure to hazardous materials. He has been with the firm since 2003 and works out of the Miami office.

 

 

 

Morris is a member of the firm’s aviation group. His practice focuses on the defense of casualty and commercial litigation claims involving aviation, maritime, premises and products liability, medical malpractice, and general liability. He has been with the firm for three years and works at the Miami office.

 

 

 

Shneyderman is a member of the insurance group. She represents major insurance carriers and focuses her insurance defense practice on coverage disputes and bad faith litigation. She has worked with the firm for the last three years at the Fort Lauderdale office.

Juan Carlos Sosa promoted to vice president of marketing and business development at Cisneros Group of Cos.

Juan Carlos Sosa has been promoted to vice president of marketing and business development at the Cisneros Group of Cos. He was director of marketing and communications at Venevision International, an entertainment company of the Cisneros Group. In his new role, he will be responsible for supporting Adriana Cisneros de Griffin, vice chairman and vice president of strategy of the Cisneros Group, in the development of corporate business plans and global strategic policies. He joined Cisneros in April 1994 as part of its telecommunications division, employed by communication systems company Americatel.

Susie Rockway joins Life Extension as executive director of product development.

Dr. Susie Rockway has joined Life Extension in Fort Lauderdale as executive director of product development. She will oversee corporate product development. Before joining Life Extension, she was director of research and science for Isagenix International in Chandler, Ariz.

Mariela Geier, Jacqueline Bueno Sousa named directors at i2 Integrity International

Mariela Geier and Jacqueline Bueno Sousa have been named directors of the recently opened Miami office of i2 Integrity International, a business-intelligence consulting firm.

Geier will serve as managing director. Before joining i2 Integrity, she worked at FTI Consulting as country manager for Spain.

 

 

 

 

Sousa, who will serve as director, has more than 20 years experience researching and investigating companies, executives and industry sectors, including energy, media, construction, trade and finance. Before joining i2, she was editor for the Miami Herald, an executive editor with American Lawyer Media and a writer with The Wall Street Journal.

Bass Museum of Art chief curator Silvia Cubiñá named to Knight Foundation's National Arts Advisory Committee

Silvia Karman Cubiñá has been named to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation's National Arts Advisory Committee. She is the executive director and chief curator of the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach. Before that, she was director and independent curator of The Moore Space in Miami. She also lectured extensively and participated in numerous grant panels and award selection committees.

Michele Centeno named senior managing director, risk management practice at Frank Crystal & Co.

Michele Centeno has been named senior managing director, risk management practice at Frank Crystal & Co., an insurance brokerage firm. She will be based in Miami and will be responsible for the growth of the risk management practice on a national level. She was most recently managing director of Beecher Carlson.

Cristina B. Mata has been named associate chief medical officer for Jackson Memorial Hospital. She is a practicing endocrinologist and was most recently the chief medical officer of Holy Cross Medical Group in Fort Lauderdale.

Elizabeth "Liz" Durrence has been named chief operating officer of Kendall Regional Medical Center. She was most recently chief operating officer at Palmyra Medical Center in Albany, Georgia.

Joseph Barcie joins Baptist Health South Florida as an assistant vice president

Joseph Barcie has joined Baptist Health South Florida as assistant vice president of international marketing for Baptist Health International. He will be responsible for directing marketing, public relations, advertising, internal and external communications and developing marketing strategies for international patients, physicians, providers and business alliances. Before joining Baptist Health, he was the corporate president of centralized services at International Healthcare Corp. in Dallas.
