The Deering Estate Foundation names Laura Lagomasino-Del Monte as director of development

Laura Lagomasino-Del Monte was named director of development for The Deering Estate Foundation. In this role, she will be responsible for directing the organization’s membership programs and fundraising activities as well as the Foundation’s short- and long-term planning. Before joining the Foundation, she was the director of business development and strategic planning at Jackson South Community Hospital. She also has experience in operation management at two Fortune 500 companies in addition to the work she has done at nonprofit agencies.

Josh Benson joins CBS4 as morning co-anchor

Josh Benson has joined CBS4 as the station’s new weekday morning co-anchor. Benson will join co-anchor Rhiannon Ally from 5 to 7 a.m. starting Aug. 27. Most recently, he worked as the evening news anchor on WFTV-TV in Orlando. He has also worked as a new anchor at KVOA-TV in Tuscon, Ariz., Austin, Minn., and Minneapolis. Benson has received an Emmy Award nomination, the Hearst Journalism Award, a Society of Professional Journalists Award, and an Associated Press Award. 

Conroy Martinez group names Maritza Arceo-Lopez as senior account executive

The Conroy Martinez group has named Maritza Arceo-Lopez as senior account executive. Arceo-Lopez, who has 17 years of experience in journalism and public relations, was a senior associate at Burson-Marsteller for five years. She also worked as the public relations manager for the Miami Seaquarium for seven years and as production assistant for the Cristina talk show on Univision Communications. 

Republica names Ofelia San Pedro as CFO

Republica has appointed Ofelia San Pedro as chief financial officer. Before joining the marketing company, San Pedro was chief operating officer of Kaplan Virtual Education. She has also worked as deputy superintendent of business operations for Miami-Dade Public Schools and an adjunct professor of industrial engineering at the University of Miami. San Pedro received her B.S. in industrial engineering and her MBA from the University of Miami.

Alberni Caballero & Company LLP promotes Christopher G. Chiocca

Christopher G. Chiocca has been promoted to partner at Alberni Caballero & Company LLP. Before this promotion, Chiocca served as the senior manager of the firm’s assurance services department. He specializes in audits of governmental entities and not-for-profit organizations.

Beacon Partners names Fernando Martinez as national practice director for enterprise information assurance

Fernando Martinez has been named the national practice director for enterprise information assurance for Beacon Partners. In this role, Martinez will lead the advisory services for information assurance working with healthcare organizations. Before joining Beacon Partners, he was vice president and chief information officer at the Jackson Health System in Miami.

Joshua Jones joins Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce

Joshua Jones has joined the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce as communications manager. Before this new role, Jones worked as a junior account executive and social media manager at Carma Public Relations. He graduated from Alabama State University with a degree in communications. 

Edie Murphy joins Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management

Edie A. Murphy has joined Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management as director and senior trust officer. In this role, she will focus on high-net-worth individuals, families and nonprofit foundations. Before joining the firm, Murphy was vice president, senior trust advisor and relationship manager at Wells Fargo Private Bank. She also worked as relationship manager at Northern Trust Bank of Florida for almost 10 years.

Scott Byrd joins EverBank

Scott Byrd has been named market leader for the Miami region at EverBank. Byrd, who will work out of the company’s Coral Gables financial center, has worked in the financial industry for 16 years. He has served as vice president and senior banking relationship manger at Northern Trust Bank and as vice president in BNY Mellon’s commercial lending department. 

Lisa Bobotas joins Sabadell United Bank

 

Lisa Bobotas has joined Sabadell United Bank as vice president, litigation and legal process. Bobotas will work from the Sabadell Financial Center in Miami. Before joining Sabadell United Bank, she worked with law firm Cohen & Bobotas. She earned a bachelor’s from Barry University and her law degree from Nova Southeastern University.
