Liudmila Esquerdo was recently named vice president and SBA operations administrator for TotalBank’s small business lending department. She most recently was vice president and SBA department manager at Terrabank. She brings 15 years of banking experience, including credit underwriting, special assets and commercial lending, in addition to small business administration. Esquerdo has a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from Barry University.
Marty Fulgueira Elfenbein, left, and Nicole Sieb Smith were elected partners at Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell. Elfenbein, who practices in the areas of aviation law, automotive product liability and casualty defense, received her bachelor’s and J.D. at the University of Florida. Smith, who focuses on commercial and tort litigation and employment defense, is a graduate of Smith College and the University of Miami’s law school.
Jeff Smedsrud has joined HealthCare.com as chief executive officer. He was most recently senior vice president and chief marketing officer for The IHC Group, and he served as president at insurance holding company American Independence Corp. He has a bachelor’s in American studies, journalism and history from Minnesota State University.
David G. Barbeito has joined De La Hoz & Associates as a director. He will manage the audit practice. Before, he was at Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, where he was the principal-in-charge of the audit department. Barbeito has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting from Florida International University
Jody Glassman has been named director of undergraduate admissions at Florida International University. There she will oversee student recruitment operations and develop strategic plans for undergraduate enrollment. Before, she was associate director of admissions and enrollment programs at The College Board. She has a bachelor’s in English literature from the University of South Florida and a master’s in education, enrollment management, from Capella University.

Dolores L. Calicchio has been named vice president-shipboard human resources at Carnival Cruise Lines. Most recently she was chief people officer at BAYADA Home Health Care, an $850 million, privately held home health care company with 22,000 employees. Calicchio has a bachelor’s in biology from Kean College in New Jersey and a master’s of business in human resources leadership, education and technology from New York University.
Lucy Nuñez has been named vice president and senior private client banker for BankUnited’s newly formed Private Client Services Group, based in Miami. Before joining BankUnited, she served most recently as vice president and business services officer for the commercial lending department of BB&T in Miami. Nuñez has a bachelor’s degree in finance f rom Michigan State University.
