Marielena DeSanctis named VP for student affairs and Broward College

Marielena DeSanctis was recently appointed vice president for student affairs and enrollment at  Marielena-DeSanctisPh.D.-2947891-220Broward College. Before, she was executive director of curriculum, instruction and interventions for Broward County Public Schools. She also has been a math and science teacher, assistant principal at South Plantation High School, and principal at Fort Lauderdale High. DeSanctis has a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a master’s in educational leadership and administration from Nova Southeastern University, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership and administration from Florida Atlantic University.

Best advice she ever received: Dr. Joel Herbst, associate dean of the College of Education at Florida Atlantic University, said, “An engineering degree and a Ph.D. in leadership will not get you anywhere if you do not authentically value, support and serve the people you work with.”
