Plaza Construction names five new positions

Plaza Construction has named Alexander Smith Jr. as vice president of operations. He has 17 years of experience in Florida construction. Smith is also a member of the executive management team. 

Also at Plaza Construction, Louis Darder was named senior project manager in operations and management. He has 23 years of experience in South Florida construction. Darder is a Florida-certified general contractor.

Christian de Gale was named project manager at Plaza Construction in operations and management. He has nine years of experience in South Florida construction. He is currently assigned to the 42-story Millecento Residences by Pininfarina. 

Plaza Construction has also named Thomas C. Lamp Sr. as project superintendent in operations and management. He has 40 years of experience including more than $400 million of South Florida construction. 

Christopher Buscaglia has been named project manager in operations and management at Plaza Construction. He has 18 years of experience in fine quality construction. He will be working with the firm’s interiors division.

Coastal Construction Group promotes David Wessin

David Wessin has been named vice president of safety and loss control for Coastal Construction Group. He has served as Coastal’s director of safety and has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry. He also has 25 years of experience in safety. Wessin has served as chairman of South Florida Associated General Contractors of America for eight years.

Alba Lopez-Isa joins Skanska USA

Skanska USA has named Alba Lopez-Isa as director of healthcare planning and development. She was previously a senior healthcare principal and project manager at Gresham, Smith and Partners in Tampa. 

Gannett Fleming names David B. Thomas as director of Southeast region

Gannett Fleming, a global infrastructure firm, has named David B. Thomas as director of the Southeast region. In addition to his new role, he is the firm’s senior vice president, serves as the national director of transit and rail, and is a member of its board of directors. Thomas, who has more than 38 years of experience in leadership positions, earned a bachelor’s at the University of Georgia and a master’s in business administration at St. Mary’s College. 

Ortega Juneau Construction promotes Ryan Shanteau

Ryan Shanteau has been promoted to division manager at Ortega Juneau Construction Co. In his new position, he has relocated from Atlanta to the firm’s headquarters in Miami. Shanteau has worked with the company for eight years in senior management positions in operations and preconstruction.

Also at Plaza Construction, Gregory Nicolay has been appointed to project manager. He will work on the Dadeland Mall Kendall wing expansion. Nicolay has more than 25 years of construction experience.

Michael Noffo rejoins Plaza Construction as project manager

Plaza Construction has announced that Michael Noffo rejoined the company as project manager. Previously with the firm, Noffo served as project manager from 2008 to 2010 for The W Hotel South Beach. In his new role, he will oversee The Perry South Beach Hotel, Resort, Spa and Condominiums. Noffo’s expertise includes hospitality, multi-family, office, retail and other projects.

Roger Caserta promoted to executive vice president of construction at South Florida Construction Associates

Roger Caserta has been promoted to executive vice president of construction at South Florida Construction Associates, a Fort Lauderdale-based general contractor focusing on interior build-outs, commercial interiors, general construction and project management. His duties include strategic planning, project management and new business development. He was most recently project manager at SFC. 

Christopher Perez-Gurri promoted to partner at Hermelee & Geffin

Christopher Perez-Gurri has been promoted to partner at Hermelee & Geffin, a Fort Lauderdale boutique law firm. His practice is principally focused on construction disputes, complex litigation, contracts, probate litigation and family law. He began his career at the firm more than 10 years ago.
