Coastal Construction hires VP for new unit
Miami-based Coastal Construction Group has named Erin Murphy vice president of Coastal Environmental Services, the newly formed affiliate specializing in disaster relief and clean-up efforts.
In his new role, Murphy will oversee the launch, development, and operations of Coastal Environmental Services, from management of its fleet of vessels and equipment to supervising specific relief efforts. He will also seek to expand the company’s business development opportunities in the U.S. and Caribbean.
Prior to joining Coastal, Murphy, a Certified Public Accountant, was an external audit senior for Deloitte & Touche, in Miami, specializing in audit and enterprise risk services for public and private companies including Lennar, Lennar Financial Services, Baptist Healthcare and the Miami Dolphins.

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Miami Flotilla 6-11 has been elected Felipe Pazos as flotilla commander for 2010.
Marcelo Freire has been named vice flotilla commander.
Flotilla 6-11, headquartered at Coast Guard Base Miami Beach on MacArthur Causeway, supports the U.S. Coast Guard as volunteers in promoting boating safety in South Florida.

David Letson has been elected chair of the Division of Marine Affairs and Policy at the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. The division undertakes basic and applied research and training activities contributing to policy development and management of marine resources. He is also a member of NOAA's Hurricane Forecast Socio-Economic Working Group and Science Advisory Board's Oceans and Health Working Group.
