Aurora Rodriguez was named editor at the bi-monthly magazine Where Magazine South Florida. Rodriguez is an adjunct professor at Florida International University. She previously worked at The Miami Herald as assistant editor of Miami.com. She was a features reporter at The Ledger in Lakeland.

Maria Arguello was recently named social media director at Schwartz Media Strategies. She will implement digital and social media campaigns for the company and clients. Previously, she worked at Ocean Drive magazine as a contributing editor and as founding community manager for Yelp Miami.

 

Johnny Franco joins Miami Plastic Surgery at Baptist Hospital

Dr. Johnny Franco has joined Miami Plastic Surgery at Baptist Hospital in Kendall. In Aug. 2011, he accepted a plastic surgery fellowship with Miami Plastic Surgery to receive additional training in all aspects of cosmetic procedures. Before joining the practice, his medical background included a residency at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, where he served a year as chief resident. In 2011, he completed additional training at Chan Gung Hospital in Taiwan with a focus on microsurgery primarily in cancer reconstruction, followed by a fellowship at Gent University Hospital in Belgium where he specialized in breast reconstruction and fat grafting.

Jennifer Gibbs joins Miami Science Museum as senior vice president of development

Jennifer Gibbs has recently joined the Miami Science Museum as senior vice president of development. She will be responsible for leading the Capital Campaign project to build the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, which broke ground in Downtown Miami earlier this year. Before joining the museum, she was vice president of development for public television station WPBT2 in Miami, where she directed major gift fundraising, on-air fundraising, corporate underwriting and membership services.

Jorge Carballo has been named president and general manager of Telemundo WSCV-Miami. He was previously general sales manager/vice president of sales. Before joining Telemundo, he held account executive positions at numerous media outlets in South Florida.

Albert Rodriguez has been promoted to chief operating officer at Spanish Broadcasting System. He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company and will continue to oversee the revenue and profit performance of the company’s consolidated operations, including radio, television, interactive and entertainment divisions. He has been chief revenue officer of the company’s consolidated operations and general manager of the Miami television market since Jan. 2011. 

Elaine de Valle named senior editor at online news site Voxxi

Elaine de Valle has joined Voxxi, an online site for independent news, analysis and commentary with a Hispanic focus, as senior editor. She will work with Voxxi editors and correspondents to coordinate coverage and cover on news trends that are of importance to Hispanics. She will also continue to write her Political Cortadito blog, but will expand it to take on national campaigns and regional issues across the U.S. that impact Hispanic communities. She has been a reporter and South Florida political watchdog blogger. She spent 18 years as a staff writer for The Miami Herald. 

Dixie Andrade named director of business development at JustAskBoo

Dixie Andrade has been named director of business development at JustAskBoo, a Coral Gables-based e-newsletter in which subscribers exchange referrals, recommendations, advice and information. She will work with new, existing and former clients and create customized marketing campaigns. She is an author, a certified life coach and founder of Envision Possibilities, a life coaching firm. 

Juan Carlos Sosa promoted to vice president of marketing and business development at Cisneros Group of Cos.

Juan Carlos Sosa has been promoted to vice president of marketing and business development at the Cisneros Group of Cos. He was director of marketing and communications at Venevision International, an entertainment company of the Cisneros Group. In his new role, he will be responsible for supporting Adriana Cisneros de Griffin, vice chairman and vice president of strategy of the Cisneros Group, in the development of corporate business plans and global strategic policies. He joined Cisneros in April 1994 as part of its telecommunications division, employed by communication systems company Americatel.

Mariela Geier, Jacqueline Bueno Sousa named directors at i2 Integrity International

Mariela Geier and Jacqueline Bueno Sousa have been named directors of the recently opened Miami office of i2 Integrity International, a business-intelligence consulting firm.

Geier will serve as managing director. Before joining i2 Integrity, she worked at FTI Consulting as country manager for Spain.

 

 

 

 

Sousa, who will serve as director, has more than 20 years experience researching and investigating companies, executives and industry sectors, including energy, media, construction, trade and finance. Before joining i2, she was editor for the Miami Herald, an executive editor with American Lawyer Media and a writer with The Wall Street Journal.
