Andrew Nguyen has been named executive chef at the newly opened 430 Duval, at La Concha Key West. Nguyen, who attended the Culinary Institute of America, was executive chef at Square One Restaurant in Key West.
Chris Phillips has been named senior vice president, chief financial officer and chief administrative officer at Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, a Fort Lauderdale-based restaurant chain. Before, Phillips was senior director of finance and strategy for the specialty restaurant group (Capital Grille, Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52, Eddie V’s and Yard House) at Darden Restaurants. He has a bachelor of science degree in marketing and an MBA from the University of Central Florida.
Sonny Gorushanovich has been appointed general manager of Scarpetta, the award-winning Italian restaurant at the Fountainebleau Miami Beach. He most recently held the position of director of food and beverage operations for Washington, D.C.’s Urban Adventure Companies. Gorushanovich’s more than 18 years of industry experience includes stints at the Meat Market and Pearl in Miami Beach, at Azul at the Mandarin Oriental in Miami, and at Norwegian Cruise Lines. He holds a degree in hospitality management from Arizona State University.
Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza has announced the promotion of four company executives. Pat Marzano (pictured) has been named president/chief financial officer. Charles Locke, Jr. has been appointed chief operating officer. Kevin L. May has been promoted to vice president of finance/controller and Chris Fusaro has been appointed regional vice president of operations
Andy Fox has been named Director of Operations for Brimstone WFG, for its South Florida restaurant concepts Grille 401 on Las Olas Boulevard in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, Piñon Grill at The Terrace at Town Center in Boca Raton, and Brimstone Woodfire Grill in the Shops at Pembroke Gardens. He previously served as operating partner of The Restaurant People’s Yolo Restaurant and The O Lounge in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
John “JK” Kulhanjian has been named partner and general manager of Shula's 347 Grill in the Coral Gables/South Miami area. His experience started with family fast food restaurants (Chicken Unlimited) then opening and operating The Roasted Pepper in Pembroke Pines in 1995. He then became general manager of Shula's Steak House in Miami Lakes.
Seasons 52 has named Kristen Verdi as field sales manager to lead sales initiatives for the firm's South Florida restaurants. Verdi will showcase Seasons 52's group and event dining facilities to the Boca Raton, Palm Beach Gardens and Ft. Lauderdale markets. Prior to joining Seasons 52, Verdi served as the national sales account manager for Tyco's American Dynamics division.
Martin O'Dowd has been appointed president of Hurricane AMT, LLC, the franchisor of the Hurricane Grill & Wings. O'Dowd has been the chief executive of three public restaurant firms over the past 20 years. Most recently he served as president and CEO of Famous Daves of America in Minneapolis.
