Gaby Borrego has been named director of retail sales for the South Florida region of Verizon Wireless. Borrego will be based in Verizon’s Miami office and will be responsible for customer service, sales and operations at dozens of Verizon-owned stores in Miami, Naples, Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach and other markets in the southern portion of the state. Before, she was director of indirect sales for the company’s Mountain Region headquartered in Denver. She has a bachelor’s of science degree from Southern California College in Costa Mesa, Calif.
Parallel Infrastructure LLC, a leading right-of-way management and infrastructure development company, recently announced the appointment of Yannis Macheras as president of the company’s telecommunications infrastructure business. Macheras has worked in the telecommunications industry for 15 years, serving in diverse executive positions at American Tower Corp. Macheras holds a bachelor of arts from Columbia University and a law degree from Tulane University.
Alfredo G. Anzola has been promoted to partner at Squire Sanders. He will be based in the law firm’s Miami office. His practice focuses on regulatory matters. He advises manufacturing, telecommunications, consumer product, and energy companies throughout Latin America. His work includes counseling clients on mergers and acquisitions, foreign investments, joint ventures and distribution agreements.
Albert Rodriguez has been promoted to chief operating officer at Spanish Broadcasting System. He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company and will continue to oversee the revenue and profit performance of the company’s consolidated operations, including radio, television, interactive and entertainment divisions. He has been chief revenue officer of the company’s consolidated operations and general manager of the Miami television market since Jan. 2011.
Tom Riecke has been named vice president of sales for the Americas with DBK Concepts in Miami. He will be responsible for managing DBK’s sales force and expanding the products and services the company offers. Before joining DBK, he spent 26 years with LXE, serving as vice president of sales in the Americas. DBK offers new and refurbished data-collection mobile computers, custom software development, maintenance and repair services, and professional/implementation services.
Victor Kong has been named vice president of digital media at the Cisneros Group of Companies. He will be based at the company's headquarters in Miami and will be responsible for designing and establishing digital business strategies for new ventures and opportunities, and their development and implementation. He has worked in top positions for several organizations, including Terra Networks and MTV Networks Latin America. He also was vice president and managing director of MySpace Latin America. Later, he joined Time Warner as vice president and general manager of CNN Radio.
Steve Cawley has been named vice president for information technology and chief information officer (CIO) at The University of Miami. In his new position, he will provide leadership and vision for all aspects of information technology, including the establishment of policies and the deployment of hardware and software. Before joining UM, he was with the University of Minnesota, serving was vice president and CIO for the main Twin Cities campus and CIO of the University of Minnesota System.
