With a finger-pointing Uncle Sam on the top of the leaflet, the Miami-Dade teachers' union is recruiting volunteers to campaign on behalf of a Cuban-American Republican from Miami and a Baptist Democrat from small-town Alachua.
What do Sens. Alex Villalobos and Rod Smith have in common? They both opposed efforts earlier this year to tinker with the union-endorsed class size limits added to the state Constitution in 2002.
Smith is competing in the Democratic primary for governor against U.S. Rep. Jim Davis of Tampa. Villalobos faces Frank Bolaños, a former Miami-Dade school board member, in the Republican primary.
