U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, a Democrat from Miramar, will not be the next chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, a Democratic aide confirmed today as Hastings left a private meeting with speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. More here.

Ms. Pelosi had said earlier that she would not make a decision until January. I guess all of the bad press that this was causing forced her to make an earlier position.
