Florida Democratic leaders voted unanimously Sunday to embrace the Jan. 29 presidential primary established by the Republican-led state legislature, flouting rules set by their own national party that only four smaller states can vote that early.
The state could lose half of its delegates to the 2008 Democratic national convention. Worse, Democratic presidential candidates could boycott the state because they won't be eligible for any of Florida's delegates - even if they win the most votes on Jan. 29.
But Democratic activists, determined since the contested 2000 election to make every vote count, decided that throwing out the results of the traditional, taxpayer-funded primary would be worse than accepting the potential penalties.

What ever happened to "Count every vote?"
