Giuliani beats Clinton in new poll

Giuliani_2Republican Rudy Giuliani, shown here campaigning yesterday at the NASCAR Nextel Cup Ford 400 race in Homestead, is the most popular presidential candidate in Florida, with 57 percent of voters willing to consider voting for him, according to a new Mason-Dixon poll.

In a potential matchup with Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton, Giuliani wins 50-43 percent. Republicans Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney also beat her, although their wins are within the margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.

Clinton is the only candidate, Democrat or Republican, with higher unfavorable than favorable ratings; 45 percent of voters have an unfavorable opinion of her, while 38 percent have a favorable opinion.

The boycott of Florida by the Democratic candidates over the state's renegade early primary could come back to haunt the party, according to the poll. Statewide, 26% of independent voters and 33% of undecided voters said they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who shunned Florida before the Jan. 29 primary.

The poll of 625 voters by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research, Inc. was conducted Nov. 12-14. Download FL1107PollPt3.doc

c'mon . . . nominate her. you know you want to. Bwhahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

And so Rudy's reign of terror begins. First the US, then the world! Ha ha ha!

Erik

As a Republican who is tired of Bush, and considering changing parties over his policies, I can guarantee that if Clinton is the Dems' nominee, I will probably realign myself fiercely with the Republicans again, and I don't want to do that.

Democrats have the severely incorrect notion that Hillary is the most electable. She is the most divisive, and the most republican of the democrats. Scientific polls time and again have shown that she just won't do that well, even though the impression of her within her own party causes many of them to ignore this information.

Democrats will be much better off with Obama, or even Edwards (though less so with the latter). Funny enough, their most electable candidate is probably Joe Biden. I think Iowa democrats will realize that Hillary means four more years of neoconservatism.

Jannie

Any Republican is better than any Democrat. Democrats have sidled over to become Socialists. It has sneaked up on us and still is.

Nomo

No way Hillary will be our next President

No big surprise here. As a lifelong Democrat and native Floridian, I and many others like me are still outraged at the DNC and the so-called front-runners for boycotting our state during the primary -- except of course to sneak in and raise money but refuse to talk to the media. A huge number of us will be writing in Bob Graham or Al Gore in protest, since Florida primaries are closed -- which means we can't cross party lines in the primary vote.

Erik's comment must be an attempt at reverse psychology to get Republicans to soften their stance on Senator Clinton. She is anything but conservative, neo- or otherwise. Her record shows that she supports a Eurosocialist overhaul of US health care (though it has been an economic disaster in Europe), tighter government controls on education, decreased religious freedom, and higher taxation, just to name a few issues.

Her ostensibly strong position on defense is simply pragmatism, both because she feels the need to convince people that a woman can be strong, and because she has been close enough to the seat of power to understand that a power vacuum in Iraq would be a bad idea.

Bring on Rudy.

He has more baggage than a airport. Makes Hillary or anyone else look squeaky clean.

Bring it.

Don't like the same ole, same ole tired crap? Vote for Ron Paul.

The Moving Finger

Democrats need to look forward; not backward.

Do you really think most Americans want another term for the two Arkansas bumpkins who brought disgrace to the office?

Of all the Democrats, Biden is the most sensible choice and the most electable.

Given that most Democrats aren't bright enough to see that, I see Rudy or Mitt beating Hillary next Election Day.

T.J.Lane

Who decided to omit Republican Ron Paul from this list? He is pulling higher numbers than Fred Thompson and Mike Huckabee in many polls. I can't imagine a better contest than Ron vs. Hillary!

Pablo

Hey Moving Finger,
Yes, Biden has many pluses, but Bill Richardson has more diverse experience as an ambassador, a cabinet member and a governor. It's too bad we live in a tv-oriented age, when charisma counts for more than character. Who was sent to North Korea not too many months ago to ease that potential crisis? Not some Republican Bush flack -- Bill Richardson. And kevin67 -- I'm well into senior-citizenship and have never voted Republican -- and I don't plan to start anytime soon.

i will not vote for her because i feel she has dissed obama.

General Admission

Ron Paul is not a Republican. He's a Libertarian running as a Republican. Libertarians are people who have personal moral and power projecting conflicts. Republicans are not afraid to project American power overseas should the need arise, unlike the Libertarian/Ron Paul pansies who say that war is never the answer to anything.

That said, Republicans could put Mickey Mouse on the ticket and the Democrats would lose with Hillary. When 52% of voters polled *already* say they would not vote for Hillary, it's a huge, HUGE uphill climb for Democrats under Hillary as their nominee.

Anonymous, what

Nationally, republicans have no chance in 2008. Yeah, they can win Florida, but will lose big in enough of the other swing states. The throttling they took in 2006 is just a preview of what's going to happen next year. Economists are predicting a major recession in 2008, which will be a stinging indictment of republican economic policies.

The definition of insanity is doing the same freeking thing, over and over, and expecting different results. Let's see . . . Bush . . . Clinton . . . Bush . . . Clinton?

Ryan

The Democrats are on the road to tanking another election. Republicans are the natural presidential party be default at this point.

Bush won two terms by being the lesser of the idiots. As someone else said, the Republicans might be able to run Mickey Mouse and still beat Hillary.

Hillary is a filthy Kunt.

LOU DOBBS in 2008!

Doing something repeatedly and hoping for a different outcome is the DEFINITION of a mental disorder.

LOU DOBBS in 2008!

Sam Minervino

4 years of Bush senior, 8 years of Bubba, 8 years of George W., why not another Clinton? How have we made out in the last 20 years?

John Edwards

Hillary is a filthy, lying, diseased kunt. Anybody stupid enough to vote for her is the same thing

Robert

This Winnie Mandella of American politics could get elected if the Republican party doesn't dump Rudy, whom midwesterners and westerners will not support. Everyone knows that Americans don't elect Easterners to the presidency---its an old axiom, think about it Kennedy was the last, and Rosevelt before him---easterners are just not liked. I live in southeast Florida where there are a lot of Northest types. Those of us from the mid --west,and California compare notes with total strangers all of us agree northeasterners are not liked--period. Watch and learn.

LRN

It is too sad for words how dillusioned and easily confused people have allowed themselves to be. Like children that have allowed to bully the good guys, everyone just merrily joins in whether they know why or not. As long as someone gives them an excuse they will accept and believe they are content to follow along. Does anyone even know why they personally "hate" our President? Or is it because someone gave you a reason and you bought it? Does anyone even know why they personally "hate" our soldiers and their exhausting and devoted mission? Or again is it because someone gave you a reason and you bought it? Stop allowing others (media, opinions, bumper stickers, etc) to dictate your thoughts and mind and remember just a few short years ago watching American's die as went off to work. It was not another "Die Hard" action movie it was real and now we need to be. This is not the time to argue over things that we don't even know why we arguing over them or really why we should; this is the time to reunite and become the "United" States of America, before we are so divided we fall. Pick a president that will unite us much like our victimized present President has strived to do. Stop seeing only the evil that spills out everywhere and start seeing the good that is our country and its people. LRN

I find it interesting that Romney is beating her. I'd really prefer Huck, but that hope is looking dim. Everywhere Romney gets name ID, people like him (e.g. IA, NH, MI)...it even seems to be going that way in the south, which is very surprising. I'm starting to think he has a shot.

Between Romney and Rudy, they are both good on the war, Romney edges out Rudy on values, and economics is no question.

Crap, now I'm on the fence between Huck and Romney...electability may do it for me.

Jess

Clinton, Obama, Edwards, Guiliani, Romney and
McCain are all CFR members. In other words SECRET GOVERNMENT.... Meaning, more of the same. I think RON PAUL will unite democrats, republicans and independents. I don't want anymore Bush/Clinton dynasty. Aren't you all sick of it. Think for yourselves and don't let the media tell you who to vote for. Ron Paul is the democrats and republicans WORST nightmare. Google RON PAUL and find out for yourself. He is authentic and is NOT FOR SALE to the lobbyists. Let's put a STOP to all these elitist from getting rich off of the
american people. ALL THE POLITICIANS ARE BOUGHT
AND PAID FOR. WAKE UP PEOPLE....

People on all aisles should realize what a Clinton Presidency Part II would mean. Terrorists would be the least of our problems. Hillary would finish the job Bill set out to do: destroy our country by selling out to the highest bidder. Just look what happened when Billy gave our secrets to China and North Korea. We will all lose if that woman gets into office. I will never vote for a Clinton!

R Dawson

I am shocked at the language this site allows.

Me too, there is no reason to talk like that about a lady. Even if it is her...

From what I've heard, she ain't no lady.

I would vote for anyone but Hillary.

Ron Paul Wins Nationwide Zogby Blind Poll....

A new nationwide Zogby telephone poll reveals that a sizeable majority of Americans are looking to vote for a candidate who protects liberty, wants to shrink government and immediately withdraw troops from Iraq - all traits common to Texas Congressman Ron Paul. As part of a spread poll commissioned by Jones Productions, respondents were provided with descriptions of four different candidates and asked to choose who they would vote for based on each one's attributes and political platform. 32.8 per cent chose the description matching Ron Paul, while just 18.6 percent chose the description matching Rudy Giuliani. Just 12.6 per cent went for Fred Thompson's description while 15.1 per cent went for Mitt Romney. The results clearly illustrate that the country is crying out for Ron Paul, which is why the establishment have launched a PR offensive to marginalize him in order to suppress the Congressman's name recognition. The sample used for the poll had mainly never or rarely used websites popular with Ron Paul supporters, such as You Tube, MySpace and Facebook, showing that if Internet users who don't use land lines were more fairly represented, the numbers would be even more in favor of the Congressman. In another poll question, the survey found that the majority of Americans are more likely to vote for a candidate who wants to begin an immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Over 49% said they were more likely to vote for a candidate who would begin immediate withdrawal, compared to just under 41% who said they would vote for staying the course and around 10% who were not sure. Zogby released the numbers to us this morning and have indicated that due to the level of interest in the poll, they will be issuing a press release tomorrow.

XelR8r

Just another skewed poll that omits Dr. Paul.

Albert Meyer

Ron Paul was not included in the poll. Amazingly scientific and lame stream media sucked it up. What has happened to independent journalism... it's alive and well and thriving in the alternative media.

Hillary is an arch-Socialist Marxist Leninist dating back to her college days. Stand by for taxes to double. She says free enterprise is no good. with taking all oil company profits, she will double the price of a gallon of gasoline at the pump. She's been caught taking illegal money from the chinese communists several times now. Hillary supporters ought to go rent the old Manchurian Candidate flick with Frank Sinatra...too many parallels.

fauve

I have to agree - the election should be Biden vs. Paul I'm a liberal and would be proud to have either one as my president. And, you hear this a lot. I don't trust the pollsters any more than I did the electronic voting machines in 2000 and 2004.

Fox is clearly biased in favor of Giulani (said repeat dialers were responsible for tv dial-in poll that put Paul in front - but never retracted when it was proven that no number was allowed to vote twice) and CNN is obviously in deep debt to Clinton. No news shows are reporting the Hillary plants in the debate, nor is Fox or even the Drudge Report. ALL 6 "undecided" questioners have ties to the Clintons. This is as bad as Fema's fake news conference and Alberto Gonzalez's hijack of the justice department for the White House.

We are so far away from a government by the people for the people. And, it is no longer red vs blue, but us against them.

Hitlary couldn't be squeeky clean with a pressure washer.

Hillary can't even keep her husband satisfied, how can she keep the country satisfied? Over 55% of the country said they will never vote for her, why are we even talking about her?
