The unofficial Edwards campaign ramps up

John Edwards' Florida supporters are not giving up on their man, launching a grass-roots campaign to back him in the two weeks leading up to the Jan. 29 Florida primary.

According to the unofficial, unassociated campaign, a steering committee met Sunday Jan. "and drafted a plan of events to keep the former North Carolina senator’s name before the public as the candidate with the best platform and the best chance to produce a Democratic landslide in Congress." It also notes a website, Florida4JohnEdwards.com, is under construction.

Edwards and the other Democrats signed a pledge not to campaign in Florida, which moved up its primary date in violation of national state party rules.
