Hastings: Best thing about Bush budget, "It's this president's last"

The reviews on President Bush's proposed budget are coming in, and not surprisingly, they're not favorable among Democrats.

Miramar Democrat Rep. Alcee Hastings said the proposal "reflects a continuation of the president's seven years of misguided fiscal policy which squandered a $5.6 trillion 10-year surplus and replaced it with a $3.2 trillion deficit."

And, Hastings says, the budget gives Florida's Everglades the short shrift. He says the president has proposed spending $215 million for Everglades restoration efforts  - about $156 million short of the actual cost.
