Crist bound for Arizona. And a V.P. pick?
Gov. Charlie Crist is heading to Arizona this weekend for a sitdown with John McCain and a few other rumored picks to join him on the ticket as a vice presidential pick.
Earlier in the day, Crist didn't mention his plans to head out there, only commenting on a pair of New York fundraisers he plans to attend (one for the party and one for an adoption group). "Then I look forward to a Memorial Day weekend," said Crist, who heads the self-proclaimed "most open government ever" that seldom says what he's doing on personal time, which is every weekend.
The NYT reported first that Crist was heading to McCain's ranch along with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and others. Sources confirmed that, but wouldn't say who the others are.
Republican Party of Florida chief Jim Greer said earlier today that Crist was on a list of three, which could include South Dakota Sen. John Thune and former McCain rival Mitt Romney.
But don't expect a McCain V.P. pick anytime soon. First, the Democrats have to pick a nominee, who will likely pick a running mate first. Following that choice, McCain will then likely pick.
