Rubio's high hopes and mixed results

His last moments in power ticking away, House Speaker Marco Rubio kneaded his forehead with his hands and turned his back to the rest of the chamber. It had happened again.

He would have to compromise. Once again, the state Senate worked the clock and gave the young lawmaker a last-minute, take-it-or-leave-it offer -- this time involving kids with autism -- that gave him far less than he wanted.

''I am disappointed we have not been able to achieve our goals,'' Rubio said.

The pride-swallowing decision was symbolic of Rubio's two-year term as the first Cuban-American speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, who over his tenure got mixed results.

If he would have run things the last two years like he ran things those last two hours, he would have been carried out of the chamber and into any political job he wanted. Too bad he had bad people around him and not enough strength to use people he ignored even though they saw him as threats.

Yep - but he did have some successes!!! He cut all those unnecessary services to abused children, the elderly in nursing homes, and education.

Unfortunately, he wasn't able to help the really needy - CSX, but he did manage to help poor ole' St. Joe Paper Company!!!

Perhaps next session Sanson can cut the remaining fat in the budget and totally eliminate schools, teachers, EMTs, police, and the rest of the child abuse investigators, foster care workers, hospice, sevices for the severely mentally and physically handicapped, and nursing home inspectors. After all these bums need to quit expecting the state to support them and go out and get real jobs!!!

After all, members need state paid for toll roads through their private property, and professional sports teams need government paid-for stadiums, and members like Rubio and Fasano need that PORK for their districts!!!!

Goodness, should be dying for the chance to sacrifice for corporate subsidies and members' "special" projects - humm, I have no doubt that they will.

Marco Rubio has been a breath of fresh air in Tallahassee.
We can only hope that he runs for another public office.
He is a Hero to the taxpayers of Florida.
