very little, as most Jews value Israel's interests as high, if not higher, than US; plus, they don't see any conflict between US and Israel's interests. They do believe that Israel is a friend, that it fights for its survival against armored to teeth evil Arab islamofascists, and so forth.

What's more important, their pandering turns in a lot of money from Jewish organizations controlled by AIPAC - up to 80% of all campaign money, by some estimates. This money buys lots of ads that turns in lots of voters, Jewish and not.

You are already aware of the lies told by the US and Israeli governments about the USS Liberty and I'm sure you are aware of the innumerable lies told by the US, British and Israeli governments about the "war" in Iraq, including the justifications used to launch it.

Now, think about how blatantly they are lying in this age of mass communications and the internet and how much more difficult it would have been to detect their lies without the internet. If they are this blatant with lies now, how much more blatant were they with lying about the Germans and Nazis 60-70 years ago when there was no internet and almost no possibility of seeing through those lies?

Perhaps everything we have been told about the Nazis is completely wrong and perhaps they weren't the bad guys we were told they were. Look at Hollywood movies from the 30s and you'll see a steady stream of anti-German propaganda. We know who was controlling Hollywood then and who controls it now. We know how much they have profited from this "Holocaust" myth, both in monetary and political terms.

We also know that many of the "Holocaust" stories they first told us turned out to be lies. They told us Nazis made lampshades and soap from Jews, which they now admit were lies. They told us the Nazis operated death camps in Germany, which they now admit were lies. They told us the Nazis massacred the Polish officers in the Katyn Forest, which we now know was done by the Jewish commissars of Stalin's Soviet Union. They told us 4 million had been killed at Auschwitz, but now claim only 1-1.5 million, yet the 6 million total figure must still be believed.

If they lied so much about those things, what makes you think that they aren't still lying about the rest of it? How can you believe any of it, particularly when people are tossed in prison for not believing? The truth does not need violence to support it, it always comes through in the end.

I used to believe in the Holocaust(tm) myth but no longer. It took me over 8 years of study and observation to rid myself of that burden and I hope it doesn't take you nearly as long.

I wonder what the Germans did with the dead Germans who littered their streets during WWII, I wonder if they needed crematoriums. I know of a family of 2 sons and 2 elderly parents, one of the sons was killed,the other returned home after the fighting stopped to find no house, no block, no parents. Of course he received no word. He was occupied (hoping desperately to stay alive). This was not an uncommon story. One of my immediate family members was born in Germany just before the war. His neck was broken but no one noticed for the first 70 years of his life, until he broke it again. Now he will never walk again, but he can hear and he has gotten rid of that odd tick. His parents said they were shown a movie after the war and told if they ever denied what they had been told, they would be sent to prison. Sort of like teaching Palestinian children to love Israel.

It happened, and General Eisenhower made sure a record would exist in the form of films taken after the liberation of Buchenwald, including films of German citizens made to tour the camp. Over 2500 years ago Aeschylus dramatized the need to break the cycle of blood-letting if we are to achieve real civilization. Too many here embrace atavism and hatred, which fuels the endless desire for revenge, and that can never be satisfied.

The Holocaust is not the issue here and it doesn't matter who believes it happened and who doesn't. I for one believe it happened and it doesn't matter if only a million not three died at Auschwitz; as a matter of fact it's inhuman of reader USA to bring up the word “only” in that context. As for Eli I say please read your history and I don't only mean recent history, go back a few thousand years as well you'll find good examples. Number was never a problem for the Jews. Generally speaking, this is a very intelligent highly organized community with a purpose in life, whose members know this purpose and work collaboratively to achieve it. As opposed to other communities out there in the world whose members' sole and ultimate goal is individual wealth and power. Having said that, let's go back to the issue at hand which is the disgusting fact that any US politician has to suck up to Israel to succeed and stay in office. Think of it the way you want but I see it as a promise to me to take three billion dollars out of my pocket and donate it to Israel every year while I have to pay $4 for gas and suffer a series of increases in the price of everything because goods are transported on vehicles or ships or planes that use fuel. And a promise that an endless war has begun so that the generals of Israel feel “safer”! What about my security? Why do I have to worry about a few hundred million people around the world wishing me death wherever I go so that Israel feels safe? I don't want that, I want my politicians to do the job I hired them to do which is to make us safe and to make our lives better. If they can't do this simple job, they'll need to leave and be replaced by those who could.

More to the point of this article, do the Jewish citizens of this country have any less right to influence the behavior of our government than the evangelicals or any other constituancy in this nation? My comments as a German is to put a face on the victims of WWII. What you are calling the holocaust is relative and never described in its historical context, what happened in Germany has never been told. Rather I see hatred of German people propagated at every opportunity, just as the myth of the 'great race' 'God's chosen' with the claims to the achievements of other races to support it. I'm not tolerating either the defamation of my people, nor the theft of its achievements. Oh and like bush I suppose Eisenhower fought to make everyone free - with the message of what you may expect if you dare to speak what you know. As if a receipt cannot be forged! write as many receipts as you want - did Eisenhower mention the poison gas he used to deform the German people either? And I can't believe anyone would attempt to deny that the piles of dead German people had to be disposed of, and many if not most did not have relatives to claim them because often the relatives were dead too, the possibility of identifying the dead was minimal, the devices to communicate with anyone, if a relative was known with a destination was pretty much zero. There were large cities in Germany wiped out. There are pictures of German soldiers wearing gas masks, standard issue as Americans were known to use poisonous gas, lying dead on the street as well. I personally know the person who took the pictures too. This because they hoped to reclaim the respect that had been Germany before WWI, and they also voted for Hitler because like Roosevelt he promised 'a chicken for every pot'. They did not vote to kill the Jews - as is so frequently alleged.

No one I have ever met has denied the violence done to the German people, I've heard plenty of those stories. Rightly of wrongly, there is just not the sympathy for the supporters of the people who perpetrated the crimes against the Jews. Don't deny the Germans supported the Nazis, they did. More than a few were happy to see the Jews go, too. You sound like the mother of a serial murderer who says "My boy could never do such a thing." The Germans were exstatic when they were winning, and now you want to change history by saying we weren't at fault when you lost. The German government is willing, kind of, to accept your country's guilt. Why can't you? I am not proud of the burning of Dresden or the rest of the destruction of WWII Germany, but, Germans reaped what they had sown in a very real sense and I do not feel guilty about it.
