McCain on the air in Florida

As part of a national cable buy, Republican presumptive nominee John McCain is running his first television ads in the nation's largest battleground state.

The ad below is replacing a powerful commercial that drew on his experience as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. The new spot presents McCain as an environmentalist who challenged President Bush on global warming. But Florida voters know that they were on the same side on another environmental issue -- both opposed funding for Everglades restoration last year.

McCain did NOT oppose Everglades funding last year. He just opposed the pork-laden WRDA bill, of which only 10% was earmarked for the Everglades. A clean bill would have passed unanimously.
Can the Herald please stop trying to smear McCain on this issue?

McCain a friend of the environment...really? The McCain camp must take the people of Florida for fools. Just yesterday he said he wants to drill off our coast and now he comes out with this. Smoke and mirrors.
