Senate President Ken Pruitt just sent out a laudatory note regarding Rockledge Republican Sen. Bill Posey's resignation as he prepares to run for Congress. Posey was joking just months ago that he didn't need to resign his office to run thanks to an amendment to his election bill last year.
Pruitt spokeswoman Kathy Mears said Posey left office anyway because that ensures a successor for his Senate seat could be elected on Election Day, Nov. 4, rather than during a more costly election.
From Pruitt:
“Senator Bill Posey has changed the way government does business in Tallahassee as he has worked to bring about greater accountability and improved customer service, all while diligently guarding taxpayers’ dollars. The entire Florida Senate wishes him well in his upcoming election for Congress. Florida State Government’s loss of Senator Bill Posey will be Washington, D.C.’s gain.”

So what's with the snarky title? He didn't HAVE TO resign to run, according to the new law, but he did anyway, to avoid a special election and to allow for the continous representation for the people of his district.
Good for Posey!

Jag;
It was simply another pathetic attempt by the media to hook you into reading their drivel.
Worked, didn't it?
'nuff said...
Best!
