Florida supremes: Crist erred in Seminole gambling deal

The Florida Supreme Court sided with Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio in his lawsuit to stop Gov. Charlie Crist from unilaterally negotiating a gambling compact with the Seminoles that granted them baccarat and blackjack.

"We hold that the Governor does not have the constitutional authority to bind the State to a gaming compact that clearly departs from the State‘s public policy by legalizing types of gaming that are illegal
everywhere else in the state," said the opinion offered by Justice Raoul Cantero.
