Lieberman says he's not the best VP for McCain

From Miami Herald staff writer Jennifer Lebovich:

U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, the former Democratic nominee for vice president, was asked in Miami tonight whether he was interested in another try at the No. 2 shot -- with Republican John McCain.

"I would say to him, dear friend, you don't have to offer me that. You can find someone better,'' he told about 80 people gathered at the Brigada 2506 for Cuban-American veterans of the Bay of Pigs.

When an audience member implored him, he responded: "You honor me by saying that, but I think it's going to be somebody else.''

Lieberman called McCain a hero "in a room dedicated to heroes."
