Members of Congress take summer field trips

Rep. Ron Klein joins a congressional delegation to UN headquarters in NY today. The delegation is scheduled to meet with high-ranking officials, including US Ambassador to the UN, Zalmay Khalilzad and UN Secretary Ban-Ki-Moon.

Topics are expected to include the global food crisis and the situation in Zimbabwe.

He's not the only South Floridian on a road trip. Miami Democrat Kendrick Meek toured the Gulf Coast over the weekend with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Majority Whip James Clyburn and nearly 20 other members of Congress. The trip's aim: examining post Hurricane Katrina and Rita recovery efforts.
