New poll: Hispanics support Obama over McCain by nearly 3 to 1
Hispanic registered voters support Barack Obama for president over John MCain by 66 to 23 percent, according to a nationwide survey of Latinos by the Pew Hispanic Center.
The poll of 2,015 Latino voters was conducted June 9 through July 13. The center notes that Obama's "strong showing" in the poll represents a "sharp reversal in his fortunes from the primaries, when Obama lost the Latino vote to Hillary Clinton by a nearly two-to-one ratio, giving rise to speculation in some quarters that Hispanics were disinclined to vote for a black candidate."
In the poll, three times as many respondents said being black would help Obama with Latino voters, more than those who said it would hurt him. The majority -- 53 percent -- said his race would make no difference to Latino voters.
The center says that in addition to "strong support" for Obama, Latino voters in the past 2 years have moved "sharply" into the Democratic column, "reversing a pro-GOP tide that had been evident among Latinos earlier in the decade."
According to the poll, 65 percent of Latino registered voters now say they identify with or lean toward the Democratic party, compared with just 26 percent who identify or lean toward the GOP.

But surely, all Hispanics hate blacks and vice-versa. Wasn't that the media theme for a solid two month period?
