Obama donors suffering from broken fingers
Apparently, that's the best reason Barack Obama's donors could muster for why they're not ponying up money to help ex-rival HIllary Clinton pay off her $23 million debt.
The New York Times today reports that Obama's top fundraisers have only come up with $100,000 so far. Asked one donor: "Why would I help pay off debts that Hillary amassed simply to keep damaging Senator Obama?''
Well, because Obama asked them to do it.
"There's no doubt that it's a priority for the campaign,'' said Obama's finance chairman in Florida, Kirk Wagar. "There's a huge amount on our plate, and we have a lot of money to raise before the election, but it is something we have to do."
Asked if he had written a check to Clinton himself, Wagar said, "I'd rather not answer that question. You'll find out when the reports come out."
