At least it ain't Peoria

DENVER -- More on the VIPS who aren't staying with most of the Florida delegation at The Red Lion on the outskirts of town: Lobbyist Russ Klenet and Broward County Commissioner Stacy Ritter, among Barack Obama's top fundraisers in Florida, are staying downtown at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Our story today points out that Sen. Bill Nelson, U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek and U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd are also staying at the Hyatt. (Nelson and Meek, by the way, supported Hillary Clinton in the primary, while Boyd wouldn't even endorse Obama after he claimed the nomination.)

State Sen. Steve Geller of Hallandale Beach quipped that the Florida delegates, spread between three hotels, were either staying "on the outskirts of town, in Colorado Springs, or in Wisconsin."

Ken Key of Tampa, who had personalized campaign buttons made up that say "Ken Key for Obama,'' shrugged his shoulders. Redlion_3

"That really doesn't bother me,'' he said of his second-tier hotel status. "Rank does have its privileges.''
