Charlie Crist: The next Cheney?

Tis the season for silly political ads and web sites featuring Britney Spears, Charlton Heston and even Charlie Crist. The Democratic National Committee launched a new web site today that aims to link Republican John McCain's potential running mates with a Bush-Cheney axis of evil.

Crist's page is riddled with exaggerations and deceits. For example, it quotes Crist saying in September 2006 that he has no concerns about appearing with the unpopular president, but then fails to mention that he bailed on a Bush rally in Pensacola the day before before he was elected governor.

The snub reportedly provoked GOP mastermind Karl Rove, when asked why Crist didn't show, to snap "Ask George LeMieux,'' referring to the candidate's campaign manager.
