Crist's audition for VP ends in 10 days

Politico is reporting today that Republican John McCain will name his running mate on Aug. 29, his 72nd birthday, at a rally in Ohio.

The announcement is timed for the day after Democrat Barack Obama accepts the nomination in an effort to retrieve the spotlight.

Chances seem slim that Gov. Charlie Crist will be the one, but then again, who would have predicted a showdown between McCain and Obama? Post your top choice for VP in comments.

Meanwhile, the New York Times says Obama will annouce his choice as early as Wednesday by text message. Are there Hillary Clinton supporters still holding out hope out there? Have your say in comments.
