Mayor Diaz gets his 15 seconds

DENVER -- It won't be prime time, but it's still a moment on the national stage. Miami Mayor Manny Diaz is slated to address the Democratic National Convention in Denver at 5 p.m. (that's 7 p.m. for the folks watching back at home in Miami.)

Diaz is here in his role as president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. He's a former HIllary Clinton supporter and registered independent who has declined to endorse either Democrat Barack Obama or Republican John McCain.

In his prepared remarks, Diaz talks about leaving Cuba as a young boy to come to "a nation where a 6-year-old, like Barack, like Manuel, can have access to opportunity...the audacity of hope.... The reality of the dream, so future generations will be able to proclaim that we left them a world better than we received."
