Obama playing the race card? No he didn't!
Yesterday's accusation by John McCain's campaign that Democrat Barack Obama was playing the "race card'' was widely dismissed by black voters attending the National Urban League convention In Orlando.
"Is race a factor in this election? Of course it is,'' said Maurice Wilson, who serves as vice president of the Urban League chapter in San Diego. "I thought McCain's reaction was overreaching and opportunistic."
"I think it's interesting that just by stating the truth it's playing the race card,'' said Thomasina Skipper, who works at State Farm Insurance in Omaha. "That's just one step up from Swiftboating. I keep waiting for the Willie Horton shoe to drop."
But Norvel Bethel, who works at JM Family Enterprises in Deerfield Beach, said both campaigns need to watch their step.
"The candidates should just leave it alone,'' he said. "It's a divisive tactic on both sides."
Marc Morial, president of the National Urban League, alluded to the controversy when he said, "I ask you to join with me in understanding that those type of things are diversions and distractions...The issues are serious.''

The Urban League is full of blind hypocrites:
“What they’re going to try to do is make you scared of me,” Obama said. “You know, he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.”
“We know what kind of campaign they’re going to run. They’re going to try to make you afraid.
“They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?”....Barack Obama
So I ask: when has McCain ever used race to make people afraid of Obama? Never! So Obama is CLEARLY playing the race card..... and it's a sign of his desperation: when the chips are down Obama reverts to race baiting. Typical politician.
