McCain sweeps in $5 mil in Miami

Is is the Palin effect? Republican John McCain raised an estimated $5 million at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami last night. It was his best fundraiser in Florida of the campaign.

Donors paid as much as $50,000 for a private dinner with the Arizona senator. Since McCain accepted public financing for the general election, the money he collects goes to the Republican National Committee.

Next up on the fundraising circuit: McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin, will raise money in Florida on Oct. 6 and 7.
