Meek to Haiti to access storm damage

Miami Democrat Rep. Kendrick Meek will lead a congressional delegation to Haiti today, traveling with the U.S. military to Gonaives and some of the hardest hit areas of the island nation.

Other members include Rep. Yvette Clark, D-New York, and Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Maryland. The group plans to meet with Haitian president Rene Preval and the US ambassador. It'll be Meek's 12th trip to Haiti since he was elected in 2002.

Meek and other members of the Congressional Black Caucus plan today to call on the Bush administration, the international community and Congress to provide more aid to Haiti which has been hit by 4 hurricanes this month -- killing more than 300 and displacing more than 82,000.
