Palin pushes McCain ahead in FL
Voters smitten with Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin helped John McCain pull away from Democrat Barack Obama in Florida by 7 percentage points.
In the Quinnipiac University poll, 50 percent of Florida voters favor McCain, compared to 43 percent for Obama. Obama is ahead in Ohio and Pennsylvania, the other states in the survey, but his lead in Pennsylvania has narrowed.
Sixty percent of the voters in Florida said Palin was a good pick. McCain leads for the first time among women, 47 to 45 percent. Another telling finding: 24 percent of the former Hillary Clinton supporters now back McCain, up from 14 percent in late August.

Reported:
McCain used to published "pork lists." Three times in recent years McCain's pork lists contained earmarks for Wasilla, Alaska. Palin had hired the town's first lobbyist, who steered almost $27 million in federal earmarks to a place with 6,700 residents. This year, as governor, her pork list fattened up to $197.8 million.

McCain is behind in Pennsylvania AND Ohio. No republican has EVER won without winning two of these three (Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida) and McCain is behind double digits in Ohio and 9% points in Pennsylvania. Wouldnt that just be TOO sweet? If McCain won the popular vote but lost the election? Talk about payback. I wonder if they'd be such good sports then.

Really? This clip from youtube expressed my thoughts perfectly:

Bravo to working moms - especially those who haven't 'chosen' to be career first moms.
That said, how this election is even close is beyond me. McCain/Palin will be four more years of war. Who's going to fight? A draft is a very likely possiblity, and for what? Did Iraq attack us? NO. Not one Iraqi ever attacked the US. EVER. Why are we there? Oil, Oil, Oil.
Who's next on the list of occupations for no-bid oil contracts? See which land sits on oil and has a beatable military.

By the way, John McCain could EVER "push ahead" in South Florida. Only those silly, uneducated boobs up north, the same ones that consistently vote against their own best interests, keep voting republican. There will come a day when we, down here in South Florida realize that we're tired of sending the lions share of taxes up to Tallahassee and then watch as the send us an "equal portion" back, using OUR monies to fund these same fools that keep pushing Florida into the republican column. You'd think they would, at the very least, take our money with enough grace to stop hamstringing us at every turn.

rhene, you have to give the GOP credit. they are MASTERS of deception and masters of PR. They have manipulated with such dexterity that its awesome to watch. I mean, look at it objectively, theyve got the media so cowed that theyre actually afraid to say anything bad about Palin. They wont even question her credentials. They wont ask her about her strange religious fanatic views. Why doesnt someone simply say "do you REALLY believe the world is ONLY 4,000 years old?" or "Do you really believe the rapture will occur in your lifetime??" or even, "Do you really think your sad BF in Journalism stacks up, favorably, against Obama's Bachelors in Political Science and his Doctorate and his "first in his class" graduation with a degree in PLUS his 12 years as a Constitutional Law Professor at the University of Chicago?" .. They let her say ANYTHING and are too afraid to challenge her because they fear the republican smear machine. Like i said, those guys are GOOD at being evil.
Posted by: Jeff | September 11, 2008 at 12:58 PM
I mean, rhene, can you IMAGINE? Theyve made talking about your educational qualifications and intellect "bad things". WOW!!! Only in America could it considered a bad thing to say "he graduated with honors from Columbia University with a degree in Political Science and Foreign Relations was his area of concentration and THEN he went to Harvard and got Doctorate in law and graduated TOP of his class and THEN went to the University of Chicago, where he was a Constitutional Law Professor for 12 years BEFORE he even went into Public Service. Try talking about it and they'll call you "an elitist" .. disgusting, the GOP actually wants it to be a plus that McCain graduated in the bottom third of class at Annapolis and it took Sarah Palin 6 universities to manage a BFA in Journalism. They celebrate mediocrity the way we SHOULD be celebrating Excellence.
Posted by: Jeff | September 11, 2008 at 01:09 PM
I mean, they'll actually dam Obama and say "while he was (sneering) in College working on his intellect and his knowledge ... sarah Palin was busy popping out babies like a baby machine and getting REAL world knowledge" .. AMAZING, George Orwell would be proud, he was right "Futurespeak" is here, black is white and white is black and war is peace

Well, if we want a hockey mom in the White House because she's "just like us", then why don't we elect Homer Simpson for President? Then all male couch potatoes will have someone they can relate to. A team like that will be really knowledgeable about tackling health care, disease control, environmental pollution, technological development, and foreign policy.
But, truly, what kind of country is this in which people with brains and education are derided, and a Presidential candidate is gaining votes by spreading blatant lies?
Posted by: NKirv | September 11, 2008 at 01:52 PM
McCain/Palin: celebrate mediocrity! We don't want brains and education and knowledge in the White House.
Posted by: NKirv | September 11, 2008 at 01:55 PM
I would think that someone who is capable of teaching Constitutional Law at the University Chicago at the same time as being a legislator is a bit more capable of carrying out the law and defending our Constitution than someone who graduated at the bottom of his class and another who majored in journalism at some undistinguished university.
Posted by: NKirv | September 11, 2008 at 01:58 PM
Nkirv, you know what? It's actually worse than that. Palin didnt just graduate, without any distinction from a backwater university, she had to transfer through 6 universities before she found one that would give her a degree. But, they KEEP trumpeting her as being far more qualified than Obama. See?? Black is white, white is black, war is peace and peace is war
Posted by: Jeff | September 11, 2008 at 02:23 PM
And when you say "WHAT???!!!!" and start to tick off Obama's qualifications, they call you an "elitist" and completely disregard your words
Posted by: Jeff | September 11, 2008 at 02:24 PM
A lot of people are concerned about whether Palin has enough experience to be "a heartbeat away from the presidency."
Well, doubters, let me just say, IN YOUR FACE.
In this recent interview, McCain outlines, in detail, Palin's qualifications:

aspect, did he mention her fanatical religious beliefs? Did he mention that she believes that the world only began 4,000 years ago? Did he mention that she believes the rapture will occur in her lifetime? Did he mention that she believes Jesus will resurrect, also, within her lifetime? Did he mention that she thinks Alaska should be ready for the rapture and that it better prepare to accept all those heathens as the flee north and, and I quote here, "help them find their way to god"? Did he mention that she doesnt believe in Global Warming and she doesnt think we should do ANYTHING in regards to to the environment? Did he mention that she bounced around to 6 colleges before she found one that would GIVE her a degree in Journalism? Whether or not she was a decent mayor of Wasilli ( a town of 4,000) or a decent Governor of the second smallest (population-wise) state in the Union really doesnt mean much to me. As a president, and John McCain is 72 and in remission from Stage III Melanoma (that has a five year survival rate of 38%) she could do an awful lot of damage that a Governor just can't do

Wow,
I have never seen so many comments after your article postings Beth Reinhard. Isn't it amazing how they are all in favor of Obama. Almost makes you question the new polls. And it's not just this article, but your others have also created some activity, especially Baxleys. And all he said was that Obama's childhood roots were a little scary. Obama must be spending some of his campaign contributions on bloggers.

Jeff,
Just watch the video. I think that you will be surprised, perhaps pleasantly.

Aspect, I WILL watch it when I have a chance. That being said, he cannot make a case, to ME, until he AND she addresses those fanatical beliefs of hers.
Posted by: Jeff | September 11, 2008 at 03:00 PM
I mean think, IF she truly believes the rapture and Jesus' resurrection in her lifetime, what kind of policy do you think she'd enact? Perhaps using ALL our natural resources in the next 20 years is NO problem because she and and all her brethren will be in heaven after the rapture. Perhaps a World War could be viewed as a good way to hasten the rapture and Armageddon. Perhaps "Global Warming" is Gods instrument to force the heathens to re-evaluate their relationship with god. As you can see, Religious fanaticism has NO place ina society like ours, where ALL religious, agnostic and atheistic beliefs are respected.

It's horrifying isn't it, the thought of McCain as president and Palin a heartbeat away?
I'm not quite a senior yet but I'm looking back over the last eight years and whats to come based on this election and I'm determined we will not get 4 more years of the same.
Our children are worth fighting for, they deserve a country that considers investing in its own people for a change.
This old gray head is voting for Obama in November and has volunteered to do what ever it takes to get the word out to people to help them make an informed decision.

Yes Palin is cute, but if McCain has a heart attack "cute" won't cut it. Why would any woman want to go back to the dungeon days of back room abortion? Why would the modern woman want to oppose Gay rights? Why would the modern woman want a woman that is proud of being able to shoot an AK47 because she is a card carrying NRA member when so many police officers are being killed? This Palin is cute but not that cute! Leave me with Obama at lease he has Joe Biden who is smart. I am a republican going democrat!

I'm tired, lets stop this cultural war that's tearing the nation apart. May the best opponent win. PS: Lets stop the hatred

Tami Nantz ......such a silly lady. All of her posts and her organization are out of touch with political reality.
Tami, dear, you are not picking a new head of the PTA. It appears as though you see all of life as an episode of The New Adventures of the Old Christine. or worse, those two silly women who call themselves The Mommies. For those of us rooted in reality, the Hockey Mom needs to pay attention to her 5 month old with Down's Syndrome and her 17 year old who is soon to be a mother because she didn't follow Mrs. Palin's Abstinence Only program.
And Tami sweetie, I know that your lovely white neighborhood of Coral Springs has the lowest rate of foreclosure in this area but so many South Floridians like me have so many foreclosures on every block of my neighborhood that I am very scared of this Republican mess of an economy.
I could go on but just think of this....visit a senior community and visit with a few 72 yers olds and think "Would this person be able to lead this country in a time of such crisis at their advanced age?". And Palin...well she needed to be kept from the press for that interview she even bungled, especially the questions about Russia. She's a mess, a dangerous one. She also is the biggest liar of this campaign. Oh Sarah, will you apologize to the troops for lying about your trip to Iraq?
