Chavez takes McCain to task

Venezuela's government is condemning John McCain's new attack ad, calling it a "desperate attempt at fear-mongering through the demonization of Venezuela and its democratically elected President, Hugo Chávez."

The same government that this week "forcibly expelled" the Americas director for Human Rights Watch after he presented a report critical of the country's human rights record.

As for McCain, the Venezuelan goverment accused him of taking Chávez's "image and words'' out of context, and using them "as a baseless attack against Venezuela and its legitimate foreign policy positions, which are themselves the result of continued antagonism by the Bush Administration."

The statement was issued by the Venezuela Information Office, which is funded by the Venezuelan government. "President Chávez has repeatedly stated that he desires dialogue with the U.S. and will renew relations with the next administration, whomever is elected, as long as mutual respect exists."

"It is offensive to the people of both nations that this campaign advertisement, in an attempt to garner votes, would reduce our bilateral relations to a few sound bites that wrongfully stir anxiety and ignore the complexities of the situation."

Yeah right.... this is really going to hurt John McCain..... big mistake here by McCain, as most Americans really want to see us loved in the world by people like Chavez.....

It would really be bad if Chavez decides to praise Obama for being a great statesman, someone Chavez believes will make America loved again.....

The Chavez bounce that carried Obama to victory... Che!!
