The warm-up acts continue at McCain rally

Republican Sen. Mel Martinez is welcoming John McCain -- who is not here yet -- comparing him to the University of Miami's football team.

"I know that there are many people who believe that the pundits and the pollsters get to decide this election," he said. "I believe that in this democracy of ours we actually have to go vote at the polls. I'm not sure that the 'Canes were favored to win Saturday, but they won."

Introducing Martinez was UM President Donna Shalala -- the secretary of Health and Human Services under Bill Clinton, met with mostly cheers but a few jeers from the Republican crowd -- who called McCain "a man of great personal courage."

Now back to the music -- Cuban-American staple and Grammy award winner Albita.
