Gunzburger way ahead of Geller in fundraising

In one of the hottest races to come in Broward in 2010, County Commissioner Sue Gunzburger's campaign is raking in oodles of cash compared to her opponent, former state sen. Steve Geller.

Gunzburger had about $82,000 as of the end of 2008 including a $10,000 loan. Geller had raised about $17,000. She raised most of her cash during the most recent reporting period between October and the end of the year while he raised $500 during that time period.

But Geller has another stash of cash. His committee of continuous existence, Floridians for a Stronger Tomorrow, has raised about $126,000. That committee could give money to an electioneering communication organization that could buy ads in the race.

Geller said he isn't surprised Gunzburger has raised more money because she had a fundraiser late last year while he hasn't had a local fundraiser yet.

"Most of that is early love money,'' he said. "You are not going to see her raise $80,000 every quarter. I expect that before the election is over I will out-raise my opponent.''

Gunzburger said she won't reveal her fundraising goal but says she is prepared to work hard.

"I'm going to do everything it takes to retain my seat,'' she said.

Not true. He has that ECO and two others, and combined they raised over $300,000 as of June 2008. But then they spent everything on Steve's brother's losing State House campaign in the August 2008 primary. Now the three ECOs have a combined balance of less than $30,000.

Funny. I just checked the Secretary of State's website and he still has at least six figures in the finance report.

Do you know of another report somewhere? I would like to see proof of the claims you make.

And by the way, Pinocchio is spelled with one N, but thanks for trying to be creative.

That's one N. Let me give you an example of other words with one N: Ron. Again, nice try with the creativity.
