Meek gets this Senate race started

U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek of MIami, the first candidate out of the gate for the U.S. Senate seat to be vacated by Mel Martinez, will hold his first fundraiser Friday with a very special guest: former President Bill Clinton.

Hosts include big Democratic fundraisers like Jeremy Alters, Abigail Pollack, Alex Heckler, Paul Cejas, Hugh Westbrook and Ira Leesfield.

"Kendrick is the only one in the race and he's totally committed,'' said Clinton buddy Chris Korge, who is hosting the event at his Pinecrest home. "It may seem early, but you got to raise millions of dollars to be a serious candidate."
