Washington Times: Obama appointee with Florida ties has "socialist ties"

The Washington Times reports that until last week, Carol M. Browner, Obama's pick as "global warming czar, was listed as one of 14 leaders of a socialist group's Commission for a Sustainable World Society.

Obama's transition told the newspaper that "Mrs. Browner's membership in the organization is not a problem and that it brings experience in U.S. policymaking to her new role.

"The Commission for a Sustainable World Society includes world leaders from a variety of political parties, including British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who succeeded Tony Blair, in serving as vice president of the convening organization," Obama transition spokesman Nick Shapiro said."

Read more here. Browner is a former secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation.

I guess the other headline should read....

"Washington Times Has Ties To Unification Church, Reverend Sun Myung Moon..."

Hope and Change.

I hope Mr Obama will stop the war between Israel and Gaza !

My guess is the Washington times is trying to further what Sarah Palin said during a rally about Obama experimenting with socialism but OMG is this one of the biggest stretches of the imagination and an outright lie. This sort of "propaganda like"
reporting is nothing more then reading a political version of the national enquirer. Why do we as republicans allow this sort of reporting?
Just exactly who determined that The Commission for a Sustainable World Society is somehow socialistic? Prime minister brown is also a socialist,or inspires to be a socialist,or is a member of an socialist organization?
Its crap like this that will be the ruin of our good party. We may need to deport rupert murdoch to get our party back. This cant be tolerated,it makes us all look like liars willing to do anything to conquer the world. We just want a party thats ethical, moral, honest,as well as fiscally responsible which includes less government. Many of our current leaders are morally corrupt for not speaking out against this sort of reporting and fellow republican politicians, everybody knows there are good and bad in both parties,we are idiots to think anyone buys into the mantra that our republican leaders are all good and all democrats are bad,it doesn't wash.Lets take back our party, lets throw out any not willing to speak out against BAD politicians or media.

Chuck you sound like a Democrat if ever I heard one but at least you can write. As a Republican I am sure we don't need a Democrat like you telling us what we should and should not do or think. If it looks like a Democrat and sounds like a Democrat then it must be a Democrat. Good luck Chuck and have a ball at the inaguration.

Socialist International, an umbrella group for many of the world's social democratic political parties such as Britain's Labor Party, says it supports socialism and is harshly critical of U.S. policies

Before you post some drivel about how this is a political hack piece, why don't you bother to investigate the details in it. If you did that, you'd see from these organizations' own statements and web sites that they are declaratively left-wing, and have among their goals the penalizing, legally and fiscally, of industrialized nations like the US.

Does it mean Obama is a "socialist"? No, not necessarily. That term is usually misused, in the literal sense, when it is thrown out. Does it mean he likely has an agenda extremely unfriendly to the expansion or even preservation of significant parts of our economy? Of course.

BTW, for those that might actually be misled in thinking people like chuck actually have a clue...

This is the first sentence from the Socialist International web site under About Us:

"The Socialist International is the worldwide organisation of social democratic, socialist and labour parties."

So, it's the organization itself using the term "socialist", you dolt.

Now, one has to wonder why more radical associations with Obama get "scrubbed" from web sites, no? Obama's deep ACORN ties and now this. Yeah, he's bringing change to Washington all right, only all those voters didn't realize that meant dirty and scandalous Chicago politics.
