J.C. Planas is the next 'American Idol'

Check out state Rep. J.C. Planas performing "Walking in Memphis" at the new American Idol attraction at Disney Hollywood Studios in Orlando. Planas, a self-styled "Disney geek," was there for the unofficial opening on Sunday and was one of about 100 people who auditioned for five shows during the day.

He won his show. Alas, the Miami Republican can't pursue his dream past the Orlando stage; the real American Idol is limited to those 28 and younger. "It was awesome anyway," said Planas, who performed for about 800 people. "It was one of the greatest experiences."
