Crist's fundraising whiz leaves FL GOP

Meredith O'Rourke, the 30-something money maven who helped Gov. Charlie Crist shatter statewide fundraising records in his 2006 campaign, has left her full-time job at the Republican Party of Florida to start her own consulting firm.

Her partner is David Browning, the former finance director for Crist's Republican rival, Tom Gallagher. The state party has hired the Browning O'Rourke Group on a monthly retainer.
