J.D.'s budget prediction

Just had a quick chat with the Senate's budget chief, J.D.  Alexander, on how budget talks are shaping up with just a week to go in the lawmaking session. Doesn't sound so good.

"Sometime in the next 67 days, we'll have a budget conference," Alexander said.

"Sixty-seven days? What happens in 67 days?" asked Sen. Dave Aronberg.

"That's when the government shuts down if we don't have a budget," Alexander said.

How about in the next seven days? "I'm not an odds maker," Alexander said.
