Broward's CFO pushed out

Broward County Administrator Bertha Henry asked CFO Mike Geoghegan to resign this week. Henry and Geoghegan have not been available to discuss the details.

County Commissioner Ken Keechl said he was surprised to hear the news from Henry.

"I'm sure Ms. Henry has her reasons but I think she is going to have to explain them to all of us soon,'' Keechl said.

Henry asked Geoghegan to resign at the same time she released the budget though its unclear if its related. Many of the county commissioners are out of town since the county is on break and doesn't meet again until August.

Keechl said when he talked to Geoghegan today "he was shocked and dismayed by her decision.''

Henry said she doesn't discuss personnel matters.
