Martinez hearts FSU, but not the Prez's Office

Outgoing U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez is doing his best to squelch continued whispers that he wants the president's job at FSU.

In a letter to retiring FSU president T.K. Wetherell, sent last week and released by FSU today, Martinez specifically asks that his name be left out of any list of potential successors.

"I love Florida State but I do not wish to be considered for the position," Martinez wrote.

Wetherell wrote back to say he has passed Martinez's wish along to the board of trustees committee leading the presidential search.
